Just a few minutes south of downtown, 12 South is one of Nashville's most desirable neighborhoods. This roughly 1/2 mile section of road is a family-friendly, pet-friendly, walkable neighborhood filled with beautiful historic bungalows and new construction. 12 South offers some condominium living but mostly homes with smaller lots. 12 South is home to an array of outstanding restaurants. Bar Taco is one of the most popular spots for 12 South locals and those just visiting. On sunny days diners at Bar Taco can sip margaritas and eat creative tacos, all while hanging out with their four-legged friends on the pet-friendly patio. Just down the street, Edley's BBQ also offers diners the ability to enjoy their meal with their dog. 12 South is home to the first Edley's BBQ, a Nashville staple for BBQ, creative southern cuisine, and cocktails.

Urban Grub's outdoor dining also allows furry friends. Housed in what was once a carwash, Urban Grub offers casual southern steak and seafood and craft cocktails. Diners looking for a quick meal or coffee can bring their pet to the patio at Frothy Monkey, where they not only serve delicious coffee but food as well. 

 

Josephine on 12th offers modern American cuisine created by chef Andy Little who combined his Pennsylvania Dutch roots with southern cooking. Mafiaoza's is a local pizzeria and pub. Nearby 12 South Taproom is an alehouse that offers dozens of beers on tap along with taproom-style dining.  

 

Visitors and residents in 12 South with a sweet tooth can get ice cream at Jenni's Splendid Ice Cream, cookies at Christie Cookies, or cronuts at the famous Five Daughter's Bakery. 

 

In addition to the many dining options in 12 South, 12 South also offers a plethora of unique and boutique shopping. 

 

White's Mercantile is a pet-friendly boutique owned by Holly Williams, the granddaughter of Hank Williams. Whites Merchantile offers items for baby, home, clothing, gifts, and pets. Actress Reece Witherspoon owns 12 South shop Draper James. Draper James is a women's boutique that carries Reece's line of women's clothing. Moda, Hero, Emerson Grace, and Serendipity also offer women's clothing and accessories. Local jewelry maker Judith Bright has a shop in 12 south. 

 

Buck Mason carries luxury classic clothing staples for men and women. Planet Cowboy sells boots and western wear for men, women, and children. Faherty deals in sustainable clothing inspired by the beach for men and women 

 

Shoppers looking for unique vintage and clothing items can find them at Savant Vintage. Residents looking to decorate their home with a Nashville Ascetic need to look no further than Summer Classics, which stocks marvelous furniture and home decor. Halcyon Bicycle shop sells bicycles and hosts intimate music events in proper Nashville form. 

 

The Flower Basket is open in April and May for six weeks in 12 South. The Flower Basket is a local seasonal plant retailer that can help locals adorn their flower beds and gardens with beautiful local foliage. Every Tuesday, 12 South locals and visitors can stop by Sevier Park for the 12 South Farmers Market from May to October. The 12 South Farmers Market has local farm-fresh food, local vendors, food trucks, live music, and family-friendly fun. 

 

Sevier Park sits on the edge of 12 South and offers two playground areas, rolling green space, a full-service community center, and Sunnyside Historic Mansion. 12 South residents who enjoy cycling can rent bicycles at Nashville B Cycle. 

 

12 South residents stay in shape by cycling at Full Ride Cycling, training at Marathon Fitness, stretching at Fahrenheit Yoga, and toning at Marathon Pilates.
